"GALLIPOLI" MEDALLION
Every Anzac soldier who served on the Gallipoli Peninsula, or in direct support of operations on Gallipoli, became entitled to the ANZAC Commemorative Medallion. This Medallion has only been issued since 1967. A Gallipoli veteran could claim the lapel form of this medallion and the full size medallion. Descendants can claim the full size medallion which has the soldiers name and regiment number inscribed on it. Descendants who request the full size medallion need to provide proof of the relationship with the Gallipoli soldier.
The ANZAC Commemorative Medallion is an unusual type of ‘campaign medal’, not attached to a ribbon for a bar attachment and it wasn’t issued as a medal post WW1. As a commemoration honour it wasn’t offered until 1967.
If you are the descendant of an Anzac soldier, you MAY still be entitled to claim the medallion. For information on how to do so refer www.anzacs.org/medallion.html
